Our Grandchildren

We are so happy that all of our grandchildren (and their parents of course) will be arriving within the next few weeks to be here when Uncle Will talks in church, just before he leaves on his mission. What an exciting time this will be. We have many fun activities planned and will take lots of pictures. Here is a scrap booked page of all of our precious grandchildren.

Two New Babies

Heather and Shelley, two of my nieces, have e-mailed me with the wonderful news that they each have a new baby daughter. Curtis and Heather's daughter, Maisie Jane, was born June 5, 2008 in Edmonton. Jason and Shelley's daughter, Aleena Rae, was born July 2, 2008 in Edmonton also. They are two beautiful little girls.

If anyone would like me to post an event or whatever, just e-mail me and I would love to do it.

Bill Heaven

Bill is one terrific son-in-law. I wanted to acknowledge his birthday which was in June so this is a little belated.

A quick history - Bill was born in Calgary but grew up in beautiful northern Alberta. He went on a mission to Virginia and Washington D.C. He and Amy met at college. They married in the Bountiful Temple. Bill graduated from the University of Wyoming and then they moved to Calgary. They are the parents of five precious children - Sam & Max (twins), Noah, Elizabeth (Ella) and last but not least, Lorelei (sometimes called Lulu). I have to tease Bill because four out of the five children have gorgeous red hair. Sam has gorgeous brown hair. I guess that is what can happen when you marry a red haired girl.

Bill was put in as a councillor in the Stake Presidency last year and he is very busy. He is a wonderful and kind husband and father. He has a very charismatic personality and is so fun to be around. He always has us in stitches. We cannot wait to see them all in a couple of weeks. We love you Bill.

Cameryn Kaye Bates

Cameryn is our very first grandchild. She was born nine years ago yesterday. July 4th is such a special birthday for such a special girl. Angie and Ben were living in Logan at the time and Angie was just finishing her degree at Utah State. They called us about midnight and said that they were just heading to the hospital. Bruce and I jumped into the car and drove to Logan. We arrived there about 2 A.M. and she was born shortly after. We were all so excited to be there to welcome her to our family.

Cameryn is such a loving, sweet girl. As she is very outgoing and loves to talk, she has many friends. She has great concern for others. If there are any problems with family or friends, she will start fasting and praying for them. She loves artistic things - knitting, painting pictures, reading, gardening, cooking, music etc. She is a kind big sister to her three younger siblings and she is always willing to help out around the house or with babysitting.

I wish I had more recent pictures of her, but I haven't seen her since last summer. They live a long ways away - in Bath, North Carolina. We are so happy that we will be seeing all of our grandchildren in just a few weeks. The Heavens and the Bates will all be coming to visit us at the end of this month and staying through the first part of August. We will all have some time together before Will leaves on his mission to Bogota Colombia.

Eagle Scout Award

I scrap booked this page today and it brought back memories. Just about one year ago, Will completed all the requirements for his Eagle Scout Award. It was a long road, starting when he was 8 years old and a Cub Scout. He finished 21 merit badges along the way as well as having a lot of fun. Just before the final project was due, he was so busy with all of his athletics that we were not sure he would be able to complete the final project before the last day. He really worked hard, along with Dad and Mom, and got it done. He organized a pizza project to earn money to build a large historical sign to go in Depot Square downtown.

Will, on the right, along with one of his Scouting Leaders.

Some very good friends who helped make the pizza project a resounding success.

Will, along with Dad and Mom, spent many hours in the garage working on the sign. He owed a super big thank you to Dad for all his help.

Happy Birthday to Canada and the USA

I think that I am finished my digital USA Patriotic Scrap booking kit. Next year I will do a Canadian one for all my Canadian family members. It's a little too late this year as today is already Canada Day. It used to be called Dominion Day. I've included a Patriotic Quick Page and some other pages.
